The Panasonic GH5 (The Nigerian Review)

So yes guys, finally I got the new Panasonic GH5 camera for about 24hours now. Announced late September 2016 and release in March 2017.  This camera is “wow” with impressive 6K and 4K capabilities.  Did I say 6K? Yes 6K is possible only in photo mode and 4K with no crop unlike the GH4.

I previously owned two Canon 60Ds (sold one of them) so for me this is a major upgrade. I must say the GH5 is weighty and feels solid in the palm of my hands.  It comes with more than 15 on body buttons and an Electronic View Finder (EVF) that functions very well.  Previewing photos through the EVF is crystal clear. It also features large enough articulating touchscreen meaning you can shoot vlog easily with this camera.

Anyways I got mine without a lens (body only) and had my friend who owns a Panasonic GX8 (4K) with a 12-60mm (F2.8 – 4) n=lend me for a day.  I must say I am short of words on how to describe the functionalities of this camera. The GH5 has wifi and bluetooth inbuilt, meaning you can easily share files directly from your camera to your smartphone of operate the camera via live view in realtime using the Panasonic Lumix app available on both the AppStore and Google Play Store.

The GH5 shoots in various frames rates. These are

59.94p / 50p / 48p / 29.97p / 25p / 24p / 23.98p at 4K (3840×2160)
48p / 24p / 23.98p at C4K (4096×2160)
30p and 24p for “high resolution anamorphic” (summer 2017 firmware)
180 frames per second and many more fps options in FHD (1920×1080

These modes require you to have a fast memory card with read speeds up to 100mb per second in 8bit mode and 150mb per second in 10bit mode.  It spots a dual memory card slot meaning you can shoot to slot 1 to slot 2, record to both slot at the same time  (backup) or shoot video to slot 1 while pictures go to slot 2.

So far, I am still learning and testing this camera and only just realised that I had the camera shooting in JPEG instead of RAW mode. Enjoy the pictures I have posted and expect an in depth review video of this camera.

Cheers and always ready to listen to corrections and suggestions you guys may have.
